Politikens Lokalaviser

Politikens Lokalaviser A/S delivers local news and local marketing to more than 2.2 million households in Denmark and Sweden each week. Delivery takes place through free, local weekly newspapers and local online newspapers, mobile sites and Web-TV. In Denmark, newspapers are circulated primarily on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, on Thursdays or Fridays for weekend editions and on Wednesdays in Sweden.

Lokalavisen.dk is Denmark’s largest local news site in terms of traffic and currently holds 30th place on the Association of Danish Interactive Media (FDIM) list.

In recent years, Politikens Lokalaviser has shown considerable growth, not least in its number of titles. In 2000 the company published 15 Danish titles, but as of May 2012 the number of titles has increased to 94 newspapers circulated in southern Sweden and in Denmark.

In Denmark, Politikens Lokalaviser publishes 52 titles with a weekly circulation of more than 1.4 million copies. In Sweden, 42 titles are published with an average circulation of 0.8 million copies. Local newspapers in Sweden are generally published 46 times each year.

Apart from newspaper distribution, business activities include special editions and agency activities.

Market position
Since 2008, Politikens Lokalaviser has had activities in Jutland where 26 titles are published in eastern, south and southern Jutland. Twenty-six titles are distributed in Zealand. A large number of the publications are distributed in the same local council or urban areas as mid-week and weekend editions. In southern Sweden, 42 newspapers are published, all of which bear the name ‘Lokaltidningen’.

Politikens Lokalaviser is a dynamic enterprise oriented towards growth. At the same time, the company attaches great importance to being an attractive place to work where employees thrive. Politikens Lokalaviser is deeply rooted in local areas, but practices economies of scale where possible.

The company seeks to grow across all forms of the free news media and seeks to maintain or achieve a position as the most-read local media in the individual local area.

Management
The company is managed from Birkerød in Denmark and has its Swedish headquarters in Helsingborg. Politikens Lokalaviser is a fully-owned subsidiary of JP/Politikens Hus A/S.
