Silkeborg Avis Holding (32 pct.)

Silkeborg Avis, the publisher of daily Midtjyllands Avis, was established by Frederik Listoe on May 6, 1857, and is currently one of the country's oldest daily newspapers and the first Venstre paper (with affiliation to the Liberal Party). The newspaper was family owned until 1998.

Market position
Silkeborg Avis publishes five weekly newspapers, one daily newspaper, the news site mja.dk and the city portal silkeborg.dk. It has a strong market position in its publication area. Apart from Midtjyllands Avis, Silkeborg Avis publishes the weekly newspapers Ekstra Posten, Kjellerup Tidende, Den Lokale, Gjern Folkeblad and Annoncebladet Ry Ugeavis.

Employees
Some 80 employees are attached to Midtjyllands Avis and a large number of paperboys.

Revenue structure
The primary revenue base for Midtjyllands Avis is newspaper sales and advertising.

Ownership
JP/Politikens Hus owns 32% of Silkeborg Avis Holding. The other owners are Horsens Folkeblad, Vejle Amts Folkeblad and Herning Folkeblad.

Social commitments
Silkeborg Avis is strongly rooted in the local area. Midtjyllands Avis is an active player in the local community as a news provider, information medium and debate medium, and as sponsor of the handball league team Bjerringbro-Silkeborg, 1st division football club Silkeborg IF, and a long list of smaller sports clubs. Midtjyllands Avis also sponsors cultural events such as the annual Riverboat jazz festival and the Ildfestregatta.
